History of Panshanger Airfield
Development of the land that became Panshanger Aerodrome took place in 1940 to provide a decoy factory made from lightweight material, mimicking the scale of the De Havilland factory at Hatfield. The aerodrome closed on 20 September 2014.
In 2019, Welwyn Hatfield councillors voted overwhelmingly to resolve to grant outline planning permission for up to 650 homes.
The Phase 2 Outline Application was subject to a resolution to grant (subject to the satisfactory completion of the Section 106 agreement) by the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Planning Committee on 27th July 2023.
This added a maximum of 210 more homes to the north of the Phase 1 Outline Consent issued in 2020 for up to 650 homes.
